Judith Joanne Sayed, Professor of Health in Charlottesville, Virginia, talking about her trip to Turkey with RumiForum:

I am Judith Sayed from Charlottesville, Virginia. I found the week here with Rumiforum very affirming. I can echo all that has been said thus far. I found it particularly affirming the fact that, being married to a Muslim and being a Roman Catholic, is very possible. It is probably a very special relationship, probably even more so than between a couple… I found this affirming too in the beauty and warmth of the people in this part of the world. I always love to go to Cairo, and view the warmth and the affirmation from my husband’s family, and I felt the same thing here.
It is a wonderful feeling. I found it affirming and reinforcing the relationships that were established at the Institution at Georgetown on Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations. I found it also affirming in making new friends who have similar and special interests. It was most affirming in finding an organization that promotes what I really feel very strongly about, and that is peace, that we see each other as brothers and sisters. I really feel that if this were to come to fruition that there would be peace and that there would not be war; and whatever I can do to help this be real I would work very hard for. I am very curious to learn more about this very special man named Gulen. I am so grateful to have been a part of this.
