Some opinions of Parents from Gulen inspired schools in Central Asia

WritingTeaching and upbringing actions have been well arranged in the lyceums, and this statement can be testified by the following parents’ opinions:

“My son Amantur stepped a threshold of the lyceum within Sebat institution. We did not make our decision at random but we did it due to our friend’s children who studied in the lyceums, due to the knowledge and education they gained in the lyceum since many changes had happened in their attitude to the environment, the parents, the family, the people, and the state” (Omurbek Tekebaev Ata Meken Social Party Leader in Kyrgyzstan, Deputy of Assembly).

“From the early days I have noticed the peculiarities of the lyceum. The Turkish teachers’ very attentive treatment to school students and their attempts to introduce innovations into the education process was great. The relations between teachers and school students are completely different in the lyceum in comparison with our schools. It does not matter for a teacher if a school student is a ministry’s son or a deputy’s son; all of them are equal for a teacher. The requirements of the lyceum are strict. Upbringing being undertaken is of a new type. There are no negative scenes like in the city schools as pushing, smoking or misbehavior. Students’ kind attitude, very sparkling trustful eyes, and their achievements in education are much better than of some weak students of 1 or 2 course students of universities. The students speak English and Turkish fluently. We talk a lot with a director Ismail bei, a deputy director Ihsan bei about the issues on learning and upbringing. Their simplicity and aspirations are very unusual. Having seen these features I wanted my children to study there. At that time my elder son was not born yet. If you have a great desire and a strong willing the Creature himself can be a supporter to realize them. Syrgak just after finishing the 6th grade and next year Seitek participated in the selection contests and by successful admission to the lyceum they made me be happy. My lasted desire was carried out and my sons started studying in Ch. Aitmatov lyceum. Both of my sons are the best students of the lyceum at present.

Lyceum graduates have entered the well known national and foreign universities, and after graduation from them most of the former students have come back to the country, some of them keep working in the different parts of the world. All these achievements made us are happy. My children study in such a very lyceum that becomes a pride of us. Our family is witness that lyceum students are taught well education. Both of my sons have taken the path of gaining education independently. Their English and Turkish are very smart. They can easily handle both inside and outside of a computer. They can be informed about the whole world through Internet connection with any part of the world. Having seen their attempts I believe that in case their admission to some universities abroad they could easily study there. And the main thing that should be stressed is that my sons have been receiving an excellent moral education. At present even though most of schools provide education good enough, all of them are weak at personal upbringing. Some of the excellent students are even on the wrong path and their parents do suffer from it. Most of them are cruel and tactless in dealing with their parents. They neither respect the adults nor regard the youth with reverence. This is one of the principle issues of the education system. In this respect there are a lot to learn from the lyceums of Sebat educational institutions. We are grateful that education provided by parents is correlated and combined with the lyceum education and consequently our children are growing kind, polite and hardworking. They are sincere patriots of their own country. In the hope that my children will receive such moral education and wide knowledge I trained the children in the lyceum. I am happy that all my dreams and desires have been coming true” (Kyas Moldokasymov, writer, Editor of “Kygyz Tuusu” Nespaper).

“Nowadays any parents who live in Kyrgyzstan would like their son or daughter to study in the lyceums of Sebat educational institutions. To prove this statement it will be enough to provide the statistics – the growing number of boys and girls who participate in the admission examinations. I also sent my son to study in Ch. Aitmatov lyceum, now he is the 10th grade student.
It was our willing to send our youngest son Syrgak to the lyceum, but he also had a desire to study there, because we have had some positive information concerning graduates of the lyceum. The children of our relatives and friends who finished the lyceum became a convincing argument for this decision as well. At least they could obtain professions, they become kind who respect their parents, who do not drink alcohol, do not smoke, do not deal with negative matters, and who contribute to the society. The advanced graduates have developed their knowledge abroad and now have been obtaining the responsible positions. We admired them and with the hope that in future our son also would contribute into development of Kyrgyzstan and with hope that we will be proud and praise him we also have chosen Sebat educational institution. Our hope came true, our son learned two foreign languages, now he is receiving the necessary knowledge, the most thing we liked our son is always under the supervision of teachers, he is not hungry, and at the result we can quietly work without worrying about him.

Sebat educational system has been tested on the world level; it has proved its efficiency by a rich experience and high reputation. The administration of the lyceum and teachers have been providing school students who are only male not only with good knowledge but they also from different sides have been making a great impact on upbringing them as persons” (Topchugul Shaidullaeva).

“I should tell that knowledge being provided in this lyceum is on the high level in comparison with other schools. It is quite good that they pay special attention to language lessons, along with them children are educated to be conscientious, to pay deference to the old people, to treat the young people with respect, in such a way the lyceum provide a good education to children. The spare time of students are devoted to various sports and other sectors. All the needed conditions are established for developing students. I am very pleased with an attentive attitude to every student, for example, my son after finishing the 8th grade altogether with his classmates went to Turkey, he could enjoy travelling, and participate in Olympiads on Turkish. At present my son is finishing the 9th grade. Every parent has high hopes for his child. Therefore I also hope that my son will receive a very good knowledge and education in this lyceum and in future he becomes a real human with good education capable to make a lot for the people’s benefit. We are proud of most of graduates of the lyceum who study and work abroad” (Gulnur Satylganova, national singer).

We have known these innovative schools as an institution providing a broad education to children. We have chosen the lyceum with hope that our son Babur apart from Turkish and English could learn to be independent. We do hope that knowledge and education is at the level which we expected and we believe that our son will grow up and will be helpful for his people” (Bek Borbiev, national singer).

Summing up, teaching and educating in Gulen inspired schools determines the role and the reputation of lyceums in the society due to development of the content according to the demands of the time and the achieved results.
