Fethullah Gulen and the Gulen Movement

The slander campaign around Mr. Fethullah Gulen’s name and the Hizmet movement is a part of a broader concept, that is Islamophobia. The name implies fighting off and rejecting an idea because of a fear. That fear is the fear of loosing what’s familiar, more accurately the life style. Some non-Muslims are afraid that Muslims are trying to change their way of life and impose (somehow) their own ideas upon other societies. That fear is fed by different circles with motives that are – at the very least— questionable. Fortunately, there are scholars with common sense who fend off the fallacies and enlighten people about the facts. Foundation of Journalists and Authors in Turkey brought together such scholars to discuss the issues surrounding Islamophobia.
