Gulen extends condolences over Kastamonu attack

Turkey is undergoing a tremendous change and democratization process. In this continuum, those who would love to keep the status quo do everything they can to stop Turkey becoming a more open society with a much more transparent government. Latest of such demonic efforts was an ambush attack on Turkish Prime Minister’s campaign convoy; and below is the details of the incident along with Mr. Fethullah Gulen’s condolence message.

Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gulen has extended his profound regret over the killing of a police officer in what he termed a “malicious ambush” and said he shares the sorrow with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

A group of outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members is believed to be behind the attack on police officers who escorted Erdogan in Kastamonu early on Wednesday. The attack left one dead and two others injured.

Gulen said he was deeply saddened upon learning about the ambush and said this incident clearly shows that those who cannot stand the stability and peace of this nation have put their hatred-filled plans into play.
