In this post I will be reviewing Ekrem Dumanli’s piece on Today’s Zaman Daily appeared on April 22nd. Dumanli is the chief editor of Zaman Daily, the most circulated newspaper in Turkey whose members of board of directors are known by their sympathy to Hizmet Movement.
Dumanli in the first part of his piece posits some example incidents as evidences for the expected bright future of Turkey. Characters of these incidents are ordinary people of Anatolia. And the theme is their advocacy for justice and human rights against the states suppression. They are law abiding citizens under normal circumstances however they do not play the silence of lambs as unlawful executions of the government increasing every day. “If the Anatolian people who pray for the survival of the state peacefully object to injustice and unfair treatment, and if they stand against the illegal use of state power, the current course of events will surely be reversed in Turkey.” Dumanli puts.
“This is just too much!” is Dumanli’s reaction to the most recent defamation attempts towards Mr. Fethullah Gulen. Takvim and Sabah are the most refuted newspapers in Turkey last year. These numbers are expected to increase rapidly as both papers have been constantly defaming Mr. Gulen and Hizmet Movement for some months. As a matter of fact, personal attorney of Mr. Gulen has been suing them. Recently, these two so-called newspapers started their gibberish on these cases opened against them. They are trying to portray Mr. Gulen as an intolerant person although he is victim of their inhumane insults.
I strongly agree with both of Dumanli’s points in his column. Not only hoping but also believing in bright future of Turkey as he listed many evidences supporting this belief. Moreover, I totally support efforts of Mr. Fethullah Gulen for asking his rights in court towards the baseless allegations and insults made by the pool media.
