Gulen urges followers’ patience

Fethullah GulenIn the speech, which was published on the website herkul.org, Fethullah Gulen called his followers and supporters to show patience and do not react to smear campaign pursued by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan against Hizmet movement. Stating that everybody should behave according to their own character, Gulen urged his followers to not respond to any lies, slander and offences they hear as the result of government’s campaign. Explaining the reason of his silence for a long time, Gulen wrote that he did not want to appear to be reacting to slanderous statements and lies about his and the movement. Gulen also mentioned difficult periods he experienced in the past: he was prosecuted during coup eras in 1960, 1971, 1980 and 1997, and he managed to survive due to Allah’s will. “We have taken an oath in Allah to not backtrack.
