Fethullah Gulen: Muslims, we have to critically review our understanding of Islam

Prominent Islamic Scholar Fethullah Gulen wrote an op-ed in Le Monde (17 December, 2015) where he called Muslims upon self criticism. Gulen, first expressed his sorrow on Paris attacks and invited Muslims to critically review understanding of Islam. “rejection and condemnation [of terrorist attacks] are not enough” Gulen said and suggested some remedies such as marginalizing de-contextualized reading of our religious sources and incorporating democratic values early in education.
