Conference “Social Media for Good” Held in Istanbul

International conference titled “Social Media for Good” was organized by the non-profit charity organization “The Kimse Yok Mu?” (Is Anyone There?). Many international social media experts gathered in Istanbul on Friday May 15, 2015 to discuss importance of the social media and opportunities for positive contribution to humanity. Andrei Abramov, the former chief of the NGO branch of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) said “The role of information and communications technology (ICT) has been, and continues to be, crucial to the development of an effective and beneficial global civil society, since they enable the necessary interconnectedness across borders, the free flow of ideas, the exchange of thoughts and the process of consensus building that form the backbone of a civil society of global scope.”
