Bayburt’s First and Only Private School Closed Down for a Month

Bayburt’s first and only private school,The Aba Secondary School, closed down on Thursday, a month before the academic year is due to start.

Gulen-inspired school raided by police and inspectors from a total of eight government institutions on 17 Aug. Lawyer Evren Murat Öztekin, Representing the school, called the decision “unlawful”. “We will going to file a complaint against the authorities responsible for sealing off the school.” he said.

A number of both private and prep schools that are sympathetic to the Gülen movement were targeted by the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) government after a major graft investigation that implicated AK Party figures was made public on Dec. 17, 2013.
