I am a couples and family therapist and professor of psychiatry at the Eastern Virginia Medical School of Virginia. As a social scientist and a scientist I am aware that it is not very often that a new model or new theory is found to address important problems, important social problems. It is even more difficult to take an idea and flush it out into plans, goals, methods, directions, and visions for how to make those changes, how to structure a way of recreating communities, dialogs, and ways of teaching, ways of understanding. That takes a lot of patience, a lot of thought, a lot of work. I see those changes in action on this trip, and I am very aware of how hard the Turkish community and the Gulen community must be working to make these changes, and kinda move forward to future that Turkey wants to have and the rest of the world desperately needs, so I have been very inspired by the work that I have seen and the incredible warmth and generosity through which it is expressed. So it has been thrilling for me to be here. Absolutely thrilling!
