... Kathy Warren and I am a Franciscan Sister from the Washington DC area right now. I spent the last two years there finishing my doctorate of ministry degree in the area of religious dialog, particularly among Muslims, Christians and Jews using the vision of Francis of Assisi as a paradigm for building peace together in the world. I hope to continue in this area in some way now that I graduated and can start looking for a job... It has been a real wonderful opportunity obviously to be part of the week that we’ve just spent here in Turkey. One of the things that I just want to mention is the wonderful balance that there has been; I mean not in the dialog schedule of course but I love those kinds of schedules that just pack in as much as possible. It has been just so wonderful. So I do appreciate that. But the history, the various theology that we encountered in the visits that we have had, the discussions that we have had, the culture, the food, the various travel that we have done, the sites that we’ve seen, the beauty of this country... I just been astounded. I didn’t realize that you had snow capped mountains and for a person from Minnesota that means a lot. So it’s just been a very very wonderful experience, especially the meeting of this expression of Islam. I just hope I can stick with it. Thank you very much to all of you!
...oh, the philosophy of the schools is phenomenal and from what I have experienced. We visited a kindergarten. I think we might be the first group that has come over that visited a kindergarten, and from the kindergarten to the middle schools, the high schools, and now the college, the way in which, the philosophy of life that is promoted I think is phenomenal. As what I shared earlier at our lunch discussion was what I have meant in those who have presented to us and received us is kind of peace that you want to promote in the world. I had heard this quote that “We must be the peace that we seek” and I really have found that in the people who have received that are part of the Gulen movement and I thank you for that!
